Questions
Is anything uploaded?
No. The PNG is decoded and re-encoded as a JPG entirely inside your browser tab.
What happens to transparent areas?
JPG has no transparency, so anything transparent becomes a solid background. If you need the transparency, convert to WebP instead or keep the PNG.
How much smaller will it be?
For a photograph, typically five to ten times smaller at a quality setting nobody will notice. For a flat screenshot or a logo the saving is smaller, and PNG may honestly be the better format.
Can I convert on my phone?
Yes. It is a common one on mobile when a site rejects a screenshot for being too large.
