Questions
Does the image go to a server?
No. Your browser already knows how to decode WebP, so the conversion is done locally and the PNG is written straight to your downloads.
Is transparency kept?
Yes. PNG supports an alpha channel, so a transparent WebP stays transparent — unlike converting to JPG, which fills the transparency with white.
Will the PNG be bigger?
Usually a lot bigger. WebP is a modern compressed format and PNG is lossless, so a three-fold size increase is normal and not a sign anything went wrong.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, on both iPhone and Android. Pick the file from your downloads or camera roll and the PNG saves back.
Free, and is there a size limit?
Free with no account. No fixed size cap either — enormous images are only limited by your device's memory.
