A signature saved as a JPG arrives with an ugly white box around it that covers whatever it sits on. Questions
Is my signature stored anywhere?
No. It exists on a canvas in your tab until you export it, then it is gone. Given a signature is a legal mark, uploading one to a random website is a genuinely bad idea.
Why does my scanned signature have a white background?
JPG cannot store transparency, and a scan captures the paper as well as the ink. Drawing it directly as a PNG avoids both problems.
Can I put it into a PDF?
Yes. Any PDF editor or word processor will place a transparent PNG over the signature line without hiding the text beneath it.
Does it work with a finger on a phone?
It does, and with an Apple Pencil the stroke thins and thickens with pressure, which looks far more like real handwriting.
Do I need an account?
No, and no email address either.
